Please tell us about promotion possibilities and fill us in on what it takes to move up the ranks.
Plenty of opportunities. Seems like AECOM has a clear career prospect guide.
Professional Engineer, Auckland - 10 Nov 2023
Seems very predictable for the early years (0-4) in terms of promotions/pay
Graduate, Melbourne - 10 Nov 2023
As a graduate there are limited opportunities for promotion but there will be in the coming years.
Graduate, Brisbane - 09 Nov 2023
It is encouraging to see lots of promotions from within. However it seems fairly rigid for early professionals in regards to promotion and raises.
Graduate, Sydney - 09 Nov 2023
Getting our architecture registration, proving to our leader that we are qualified and experienced enough
Professional, Brisbane - 09 Nov 2023
Working for an international company with different projects provides a wide range of opportunities and growth.
Graduate, Melbourne - 09 Nov 2023
Company has clear progression steps. Mentor programme exist to help grads.
Graduate, Adelaide - 09 Nov 2023
I think that promotion for the first couple of years is good and linear, i feel like it stagnates towards the 5-10yr mark and the pay increase associated with early promotions is not up to the market value.
Graduate, Perth - 09 Nov 2023
Fixed promotion for graduates after 18months. No opportunities to accelerate. Post professional promotion opportunities are available in October and are usually advocated.
Graduate, Sydney - 09 Nov 2023
From graduate to professional, the program is 18 months. Afterwards it is based on performance.
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Nov 2023
It is a big international company which means there are limits to how fast you can progress. Pay is also very rigid and not so much related to performance as you would get in other companies. You can be given more responsibility than your role title if you want it.
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Nov 2023
I believe in what I stated for how I believe people should prepare themselves when applying for AECOM. I thought I was worth slightly more (like 2 percent more) but that will come with time. Certainly not upset and am definitely grateful to be in the company and team I am in. Everything will come with experience and time.
Professional, Brisbane - 08 Nov 2023
As a grad, you will get the professional title after the 2 years program. After that, you have to negotiate on your own.
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Nov 2023
Typical corporate ladder. There is a guide on how to move up the ranks but I've not indulged in it further.
Graduate, Perth - 08 Nov 2023
Promotion opportunities are annually based on KPI, performance and resourcing amounng other aspects. Goal setting is a great example on showing growth. Showing initiative and management skills along with being a friendly and helpful team member all contribute to moving up the ranks
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Nov 2023
It is unfortunate, but in order to move up and get an appropriate raise you have to move to different companies as promotional opportunities and pay progression can be poor.
Graduate, Auckland - 08 Nov 2023
Company is fairly structured - no provision for early promotion out of graduate program but now they withold people from progressing. Very structured roles so they will promote based on time frames rather than demonstrating your capabilities.
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Nov 2023
Starting salary for an engineer isn't super competitive. Raise only just hit CPI.
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Nov 2023
I believe you move up through experience so I don't think it's easy
Graduate, Sydney - 08 Nov 2023
As yet, promotion opportunities are limited depending on the work afforded to your department and sub-discipline. Depending on what kind of work is available, you may find yourself taking on a completely different role to what you had applied for. Though, there will be support in this area to ensure that you are learning something useful from it.
