This opportunity is for a documentary filmmaker or students majoring in film and media to undertake a two-month internship with Beach House Pictures – Singapore and Doc Edge New Zealand.
This internship, with one of Asia's leading production houses, will provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to learn, experience and develop co-production documentary projects between New Zealand and Asia in a supportive, international setting.
About Doc Edge
Doc Edge is run by The Documentary New Zealand Trust, a not-for-profit charitable organisation based in Auckland, New Zealand. It is New Zealand's Oscar-qualifying premier international documentary film festival and delivers a public programme of screenings throughout the year including both in-theatre and as well as online events. This also includes a strong education programme for students.
Doc Edge also presents a strong regional industry programme to support and upskill filmmakers and facilitate opportunities for New Zealand filmmakers.

About Beach House Pictures
Beach House Pictures (BHP), a Blue Ant Media production company, is one of Asia's largest independent film makers.

About the Internship
In previous years, the Foundation has sent interns to Singapore to undertake an internship with Beach House Pictures to learn about their experiences. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's internship with Doc Edge and Beach House Pictures will be held remotely using daily conferencing. The internship will focus on the critical Development and Pre-Production stages of documentary production.
The successful applicant will have opportunity to work closely with BHP development team to brainstorm new ideas, answer pitch briefs from channels and clients, research and organize stories and write up documentary pitches for an international audience.
At the completion if the internship, the intern will have actively contributed to several major documentary projects in various capacities. This detailed exposure to the development and pre-production process will provide the intern with valuable knowledge, skills, and techniques to successfully transform ideas and concepts into greenlit projects.

The successful applicant will be required to agree to the standard Terms and Conditions for Asia New Zealand Foundation funding recipients.
Reporting requirements
Interns are expected to write a 600-word article (with accompanying photos) on their internship that will appear on the Foundation's website (to be submitted during the internship) and write a final three-page report evaluating the internship experience at the end of the programme.
