What was it that drew you to a career at Capgemini initially?
For me, it was Capgemini culture and the values, specifically the focus on people. I believe that a successful company depends on its culture and how it empowers employees. Capgemini takes this responsibility seriously, and that resonates with me.
What's your current role at Capgemini?
I'm an Associate Consultant, with the Insights & Data business line.
How have your studies helped you in your current role at Capgemini?
I don't have an IT background I studied International Relations and Business. What I've been able to draw on is my critical thinking and analytical skills, as well as my client engagement and collaborative skills. These developed through my time at University, both inside and outside the classroom.
What are you passionate about in your role?
It is working with clients to help them realise their strategic goals, especially when it draws on the strengths and knowledge of their staff.
What does a typical day look like for you, and what are you currently working on?
I'm currently working as a data analyst within the automotive industry, assisting the client in achieving their long-term IT strategy.
On a day to day basis, this involves:
Lately, I'm building an interactive dashboard for regional analysts. The dashboards aim is to ensure consistent and high-quality data and to enable a more insightful understanding of performance against critical matrixes.
Previously I improved the client's view of their customers by investigating vehicle ownership and usership. This work allowed me to develop my skills in SQL - a fantastic opportunity to put my new skill set to use.
Throughout the day, I'm able to reach out to my Capgemini colleagues and leverage their vast technical knowledge and experience. Their support, and the fun team spirit is also vital for facilitating a relaxing and enjoyable work environment.
Tell us about your work-life harmony at Capgemini?
I've enjoyed an excellent work-life balance; my projects have allowed for flexible working hours, as well as the opportunity to work from home when necessary. There have also been numerous opportunities for social activities among the graduates, and the more extensive Capgemini network, particularly across the APAC region.
How would you describe the culture at Capgemini?
I've found to culture to be quite welcoming and engaging. At Capgemini, you are in control of your own experience. I mean that you choose the training you do, the side projects that you involve yourself in, and how you engage with the client. In that sense, Capgemini has quite an entrepreneurial culture with the support to help you develop and grow, both personally and professionally.
What has been the most empowering moment in your Capgemini career journey?
I was fortunate enough to share my experience with students at RMIT, as part of our Women@Capgemini Week. It was an excellent opportunity to reflect on how much I'd learned and grown in the first five months at Capgemini, and how I'm slowly overcoming my self-doubt. Hopefully, the lessons I shared, particularly as a woman without a background in IT, helped others overcome any concerns about pursuing a career in this field.
How does Capgemini help support your sense of purpose in your career?
Through the example of senior staff, and the support I've received at Capgemini, I feel empowered to pursue any area of interest. There's still a lot for me to learn about this industry, but I don't feel limited in what I can achieve at Capgemini.
What have you gained from working at Capgemini from a career perspective?
I've gained the opportunity to learn about emerging technologies. Working as a consultant is something, I'd never imagined myself doing - developing new skills, making new friends, and having to opportunity to add real business value has been a blast.
