OUR IMPACT

Investment Banking Division

Our division works on some of the most complex financial challenges and transactions in the market today. Whether advising on a merger, providing financial solutions for an acquisition, or structuring an initial public offering, we handle projects that help clients at major milestones. We work with corporations, pension funds, financial sponsors, and governments and are a team of strong analytical thinkers, who have a passion for producing out-of-the-box ideas.

Goldman Sachs is offering opportunities to join the New Zealand Investment Banking team in Auckland as a New Joiner beginning February 2022.

Starting as a New Joiner, you will take part in training to provide you with the tools necessary for professional growth and career advancement. Analysts will gain exposure to the firm’s businesses and expand their knowledge of corporate finance, as they develop key analytical, communications and marketing skills.

Our Analysts are a vital part of Goldman Sachs’ Investment Banking teams. Their responsibilities include:

  • Creating and analyzing financial models including customised company valuation analysis
  • Organizing and preparing client presentations to explain industry trends, assess clients situations to provide the necessary financial advice
  • Helping manage transaction processes and assisting in structuring transactions, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions and fixed income and equity issuances
  • Coordinate teams of tax advisors, accountants, lawyers, and bankers for various transactions
  • Lead due diligence processes and actively participate in the negotiations of legal documentation.

We offer our people the opportunity to move ahead more rapidly and we offer an environment where you will be supported and mentored, including having access to the global Goldman Sachs network.

Our new joiners can expect:

  • To contribute to meaningful projects from day one
  • Best-in-class training including opportunities to attend training in Sydney (travel restriction dependent)
  • To work with talented and passionate individuals
  • To develop a global network
  • Mentoring support
  • Networking opportunities with over 80 diversity networks and interest forums globally
  • Career development
  • Competitive benefits and much more

Successfully shortlisted candidates will demonstrate:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interest in financial services and a long term interest in an Investment Banking career path
  • Between 6 – 24 months of professional experience inside Investment Banking, or in professions such as but not limited to Law, Engineering, Consultancy, Financial Services, Software Engineering, Actuarial or Accounting
  • A proven ability to think commercially about the needs of the client
  • Strong team orientation and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with team members in multiple groups and regions
