5.40 AM

The alarm goes off, time to wake up (assuming my Border Collie puppy doesn’t wake me up any earlier!)

6.00 AM

Gym class – usually a HIIT class to start the day or if the weather is good, I’ll occasionally go for a morning cycle.

7.00 AM

Quick brekkie at home and a play with the puppy.

7.30 AM

Time to walk into work – it usually takes me about 25 mins to walk in and then I get ready at the End of Trip facilities in our building (these are great – showers, fresh towels, dry cleaning, irons and hair dryers!)

8.30 AM

My workday begins. I always start the morning by having a coffee and checking through my emails. I’ll also look through my calendar so I am aware of any client meetings, coffee catchups or training sessions during the day. I also use this time to plan out my day by making a checklist of any tasks I need to complete.

9.00 AM

This morning I am attending a witness interview at a client’s office with my manager. This meeting is in relation to a workplace investigation we are currently involved in, and this person has been identified as a potential witness. I spent the last few days preparing an interview plan to bring along, which includes all of the relevant email correspondence and documents relating to the investigation. The interview takes 1.5 hours and runs very smoothly.

10.30 AM

Time to walk back to the McGrathNicol office. I will now have a debrief with my manager following the interview, and together we will determine the next steps relating to this investigation.

11.00 AM

My colleagues and I decide to go for a walk and grab a coffee. Our local favourite, Archer, is just up the road and is always delicious!

11.15 AM

I have some time now to catch up on a research task that I have been working on. I am part of a Corporate Research group and am currently looking into the recent trends and news in local Agriculture businesses. I am putting together a short PowerPoint of my research to be able to share with the team at our next office meeting.

12.00 PM

Today we have a lunchtime training session on Cyber Awareness. A few of my colleagues within the Technology and Cyber team are presenting a recent project they have worked on, in which they tested the strength of a firm’s cyber security through a mock cyber-attack. This was a super interesting session! The firm also put on a lunch for everyone in the office who attended the training – yum! (Normally I would spend my lunch break walking down to the shops at Queen Street Mall or going to grab some lunch down the street with my colleagues).

1.00 PM

This afternoon I am getting started on some work for a fraud investigation we are currently working on. I am starting by conducting an examination of electronic email data relating to the investigation. I will start off by preparing a keyword search list, in which I can apply to the email data to bring up relevant emails. Once my keyword list has been approved by my project manager, I can get started on the analysis.

3.30 PM

Time really does fly when you get down to the minor details… time for a quick coffee and snack from our office kitchen (I could opt for the healthy banana option…but there’s also cookies…).

3.45 PM

On the home stretch for the day. I prepare a summary of my findings for the day, and pop this into an email for my project manager. This way we can have a chat and see how we are tracking this project. This also allows me to take a step back and see what I have achieved for the day, and what outstanding tasks I need to start off with tomorrow morning.

4.45 PM

I usually check my emails before I go to make sure I haven’t missed anything important throughout the day. I will also check my calendar for the next day, so I am prepared for whatever I may have on.

5.00 PM

Time to go home! Once I get home, I take my puppy down to the park for a runaround.

6.30 PM

Dinner time! Tonight we are off to our local trivia night. A few of my friends come along and show their competitive sides.

8.30 PM

Time to wind down. Will probably watch an episode of a show and just lounge around.

9.30 PM

It’s time for bed. Alarm is set for tomorrow’s gym class.
