Diversity at Meltwater Australia

8.7
8.7 rating for Diversity, based on 19 reviews
Please provide further information on diversity with respect to women, ethnic minorities and LGBT. Please comment on issues such as recruitment, retention, promotion, child care, maternity leave, etc.
There is diversity in Meltwater but I wouldn't say it's a conscientious goal. The culture promotes diversity and there is flexibility for those who require child care/maternity leave. Similarly, it's a young company so we're very embracing of ethnic minorities and the LGBT community. However these minorities would make up less than 10% of the office

I work on quite a diverse team - but I think diversity can and should always be a focus. It is crucial for our team to have different perspectives and experiences in order to function.

I don't know much about any specific initiatives, but I think we have a very good gender balance across departments.

Gender diversity isn't an issue at Meltwater, my team is mostly female and there is an equal opportunity to progress for all females into management. Very liberal company, with international operations we often have transfers to and from different locations. Sexual orientation is not an issue here, we support LGBT inclusion.

The company is young and has people from all countries, backgrounds, beliefs, sexuality, etc.

What does your company do to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds?
Given the vast majority of all new hires are fresh grads, the only prerequisite we have to hiring is a uni degree. This means we often have people from all walks of life come through the door. In saying that, we have been very successful with candidate placement through referral programs with our current employees, so this naturally creates a network of people that know each other more than others, however we have never received a complaint in this area.
