  • Everyone genuinely loves working here.
  • Exposure to interesting work and being surrounded by some of the most knowledgeable and experienced people in the field.
  • Breadth of opportunities to do different kinds of work, access to pro-bono work opportunities and firm social events.
  • The people and the culture MinterEllison has a strong network of highly intelligent people who deliver high-quality work whilst maintaining a friendly and supportive workplace culture
  • There are times when long hours are required if a particular transaction or matter dictates it.
  • High stress and stakes, but that is typical across the profession.
  • It often feels that the team is too busy to provide regular check-ins, training, and support. This is understandable to a degree, as the team is very busy.

Partners and senior lawyers are very generous with their time. It is normally incumbent on you to reach out for feedback or with questions, but they will always answer any questions or provide detailed feedback when asked.

Office Work Environment
The offices are located in a very convenient location in the CBD and have good facilities (showers, hair straighteners etc.). The dress code is business professional but there is room for personal expression. A few more snacks/refreshment options would take the office to a 10!

Written application, video interview, and then in-person interview I liked that we had time to think about our responses in the video interview, and the in-person interview was more of a chat, and if they had structured questions, I don't think I noticed because it was interwoven so seamlessly. I really enjoyed my clerkship interview (it was the first I had) and instantly hit it off with HR and the Partner. HR mentioned they specifically remembered me and some of the things I said from my video interview and that made me really happy - that I wasn't just one of a million applicants

Work Hours
Work hours are very flexible, for instance I can flow very easily between home and the office at my discretion. While hours can be long, that is to be expected in the industry and MinterEllison does a great job of balancing this with available work from home options.

A lot of printing occurs on my team. Sometimes this is necessary and sometimes I think it is a result of difficulties with technology which I think there should be an effort to change.
