The Robinsons Land Corporation story

Robinsons Land Corporation was incorporated in 1980 as the official real estate arm of JG Summit Holdings, a leading Philippine conglomerate with businesses in banking, air transportation, hotels, power generation, real estate and property development, food manufacturing, petrochemicals, telecommunications and publishing.

The company has various segments in its core businesses. It develops and sells residential condominium spaces and high-end horizontal residential projects with its Residential Division; manages and leases commercial centers and shopping malls with its Commercial Center Division; leases and develops office spaces with its Office Buildings Division and operates and owns hotels with its Hotel Division.

As of 2018, the company had developed 89 residential housing projects, towers, and condominium buildings which include The Residences and The Sapphire Bloc at Ortigas Center's Westin Sonata Place, Sync in Pasig City, Cirrus in Bridgetowne, Galleria Residences and Azalea Place in Cebu City, AmiSa in Mactan City and The Magnolia Residences in Quezon City. It also has 23 hotel properties, 20 office buildings and 51 shopping malls.

Robsinsons Land Corporation was recognized as one of the country's top ten developers in the BCI Asia Awards 2019 – its eighth time in nine years. The award recognizes companies with 'the greatest aggregate value of projects under construction during the last full calendar year by the extent of their sustainability and confirmed Green building rating.'

The recruitment process

The recruitment process varies from role to role, but the standard hiring procedure begins with an online resume submission. Promising applicants may be invited for a written exam on any of the following: logic, spatial, English, math, and a personality test. Applicants who pass may go through a series of interviews with the HR representative, department head or general manager. Some applicants reported phone interviews instead of the usual face-to-face. The process may take 2 days to a week.

Remuneration

Low salary is a common issue. Benefits may include any of the following: rice subsidy, travel incentives, mid-year bonus and government-mandated benefits.

The culture

The words ‘fun’ and ‘relaxed’ are often used to describe the RLC work environment. Most reviews also praised the company’s work-life balance.

Social contributions

RLC gives back to the community in three ways. The RLove Program focuses on various advocacy and social welfare projects through volunteerism, partnerships, and philanthropy. Through this project, a variety of social welfare initiatives are implemented according to focused themes of health and nutrition, community development and social involvement, child welfare and education, and emergency response.

The two-decades-old Robinsons Malls Gift of Change is a coin bank donation campaign that encourages shoppers to donate loose change. The initiative focuses on wellness, community development, and health through relief operations, free vaccines, and others.

RLC also promotes renewable energy by utilising off-grid rooftop solar PV panels on its local malls. Today, around 16,100 kWp are installed in 15 projects located in various areas around the Philippines. This equates to around 14,300 tons of carbon dioxide avoided and 370,000 trees planted.

The vibe of the place

According to reviews from major job sites, RLC, being a large conglomerate with various divisions, is a 'good' workplace for graduates looking to gain new experiences or branch out fields other than their own. There are lots of opportunities to 'make new connections', most reviews said.
