What does your role involve?
I am the Senior Production Officer of the Georges River Hub. I contribute to the safe operation of our Water Recycling Plants, to produce sustainable products that protect the environment and service our communities. I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work across the business in the area of safety.
What are some of thehighlights or interesting stories from your career?
My career within Sydney Water has allowed me to work across multiple business groups including safety, operations, strategy and the graduate program. I led a project team to develop and implement a lockout tagout system to ensure that people work safely around hazardous energy sources. I was recognised by management and won an Individual Safety Award. I have had two children during my time at Sydney Water and have been supported during my transition back to work.
Do you have any advice forother students?
Don’t second guess your abilities and have faith in yourself. When challenges and opportunities arise, take them and learn everything you can. No question is a stupid question, and people are always looking for a reason to share their experiences and knowledge. Most importantly have fun learning new things.
