About UBS Singapore

UBS works with individuals, families, institutions, and corporations around the world to help answer some of life's questions – whether through award-winning wealth management advisory, investment banking and asset management expertise, or private and corporate banking services. Headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, they are present in all major financial centers worldwide.

The operational structure of the firm is comprised of four business divisions and the Group Functions:

  • Global Wealth Management
  • Asset Management
  • Personal & Corporate Banking
  • Investment Bank

Your role

The Investment Bank Chief Operating Office (IB COO) shapes the future direction of the investment banking business. Through tackling challenges, you'll be part of a team that oversees the day-to-day operating models and processes. You'll get to contribute meaningfully to projects while getting to grips with its infrastructure and processes.

Diversity helps to grow, together. That’s why it is committed to fostering and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. It strengthens the business and brings value to the clients.

Do you want to experience a diverse and exciting working environment? Do you want to become an expert in a market analysis? You'll

  • get exposure to different business areas, products, and regions within Global Markets
  • gain an understanding of the business from a front-to-back perspective
  • work with senior management across functions to develop, analyze and deliver business-enabling initiatives
  • work on projects that support the business.

Training, development & rotations

On this 10-week summer program, you’ll be a real part of the team, working with the experts and learning about the industry, the clients, its firm, and a specific area of it. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to develop new skills and make contacts. And if you impress them, they might invite you to join the Graduate Talent Program once you’ve graduated. You may only apply for one program in one country within the Asia Pacific during the same academic year.

Compensation & benefits

UBS is proud to be one of the first banks certified by the EQUAL-SALARY Foundation for its equal pay practices in Switzerland, the US, the UK, Hong Kong, and Singapore in 2020.

A big part of being a great place to work is providing access to competitive benefits. UBS benefits – which include insurance, retirement, and personal leave – are custom-designed to meet the needs of the local employee base, and they often go beyond what’s legally required or common in that market.

The typical UBS Intern salary is SGD 30,000 per year. Intern salaries at UBS can range from SGD 16,800 -  SGD 60,000 per year. This estimate is based upon  UBS Intern salary report(s) provided by employees in Glassdoor.

Career progression

“Investing in the employees' development to help them thrive in an agile future”

UBS wants its employees to be able to build interesting careers. One way it does that is through its innovative Career Navigator platform – a self-service online talent management tool that encourages internal mobility across teams, functions, and business divisions. Employees can explore career paths, search for jobs and subject matter experts, and apply for short-term rotations, all while allowing the recruiters to easily source internal talent. And, if there are potential competency gaps, the tool will recommend appropriate training. Last year, Career Navigator helped 47,600 employees search for short-term job opportunities, find internal experts, discover possible career paths or match to open roles.

Work-life balance

The employees’ overall health and well-being are extremely important to UBS, and it has continued to adapt its support as employees’ needs and preferences have changed over time. Its comprehensive health and well-being offering includes a suite of programs, benefits, and workplace resources to help employees manage their work and personal life.

UBS  also actively support hybrid (a mix of office and home-working) options and flexible working arrangements (e.g., part-time, job-sharing, and partial-retirement roles), and it offers generous parental and family-care leave to help employees take care of their loved ones.

Company culture

The three keys

UBS's strong and inclusive culture is grounded in the three keys to success: Its Pillars, Principles, and Behaviors. They determine what UBS is built on, what it stands for, and how they do it.

Its Pillars  - What it is built on

  • Capital strength – a balance sheet for all seasons
  • Simplification and efficiency – make it easy to do business
  • Risk management – anticipate and handle risk effectively

Its Principles - What it stands for.

  • Client centricity – clients are at the heart of everything it does
  • Connectivity – create success by connecting people, ideas, and opportunities
  • Sustainable impact – act today with tomorrow in mind

Its  Behaviors -How they do it.

  • Accountability with integrity – take ownership
  • Collaboration – work as one UBS
  • Innovation – improve every day

A diverse workforce, inclusive culture, and equitable practices are crucial to its long-term success. At UBS, re-imagine the power of people and investments to create a better world for all – a world that’s fair and sustainable - and this underpins its approach to diversity.  In the experience, diverse teams better understand and relate to the diverse clients’ needs. Likewise, diversity of thought, opinion, and experience helps it to make better decisions and be more innovative, while an inclusive work environment that grants all employees equal access to opportunity attracts high-quality people and makes the firm a better place to work for everyone.

About you

It doesn’t matter what you’re studying. (Really, it doesn’t!) But like to see evidence that you can:

  • analyze a problem, take a view, and come to a decision
  • plan, organize, and communicate well
  • make things happen
  • stick with a task
  • work in a team
  • come up with ideas

Perhaps you’ve organized a fundraising event or taken part in team sports? Or persevered and passed an exam in a subject you found challenging? Think about how things you’ve achieved match the skills you’re after.

How to apply

Online application

  • Simply set up a personal account and submit your application via an online job board. Focus on applying for jobs that match your talents by carefully reading the overview and qualification information. You may apply for a maximum of five jobs within the same month.

Online assessment

UBS uses three types of online assessments. Depending on the opportunity you have applied for, you may be asked to complete more than one type.

  • UBS Cultural Appraiser: Culture is key. The Cultural Appraiser will give you realistic, hypothetical work scenarios designed to see how well you align with the culture and values.
  • Cognitive Assessments: Numerical and verbal reasoning measure your ability to draw logical conclusions from complex numerical or verbal information. Logical reasoning will ask you to find logical rules in patterns of symbols and apply them to a different set of patterns. Where possible, be sure to complete tutorials and/or practice questions before you start.
  • Coding Challenge: For roles in Technology, you may be asked to solve challenges in a native coding environment with real-time feedback. This simulation helpsyout to see if your skills are a good match for the role.

Face-to-face interview

The final stage of the selection process is a series of virtual or face-to-face interviews held at one of their offices. You'll have a chance to meet your future line manager and potentially senior leaders in the business. Give a glimpse into your personality, capabilities, and compatibility with your desired position. Here's your chance to market yourself, so let your personality shine and make a lasting impression on the team UBS.

Application for this role is currently closed. You may click pre-register and Prosple will email you once it's open again.
