The Adobe Story

This company came into existence in late 1982 when John Warnock and Charles Geschke resigned from Xerox PARC and founded Adobe as partners. The company was originally established to create and sell the postscripts page description language. The year it was established, Steve Jobs offered to acquire the company for $5 million (C$6.6 million). Three years after its inception, Apple Computer licensed PostScript to use in its LaserWriter printers. This changed the landscape of desktop publishing. Adobe's next invention was digital fonts with its trademark Type 1.

In 1989, Adobe invented what's widely recognized as one of the most popular graphic editing tools known as Photoshop. 4 years later, Adobe invented portable document format (PDF) and Adobe Acrobat Reader and Software. In early 2008, Adobe introduced Adobe Media Player into the market. Later that year, Adobe launched acrobat.com. It was a series of web applications designed for collaborative work. In 2009, Adobe acquired Omniture for $1.8 billion (C$2.3 billion). In 2018, Adobe acquired Magento Commerce, which enabled it to provide services such as marketing, advertising, and analytics.

Later that year, Adobe changed its official name from Adobe systems Incorporation to Adobe Inc. In late 2021, Adobe announced its intention to add an electronic payment system to its e-commerce platform.

Culture & Vibe

Adobe's culture is one of the reasons it's an employer of choice. This culture is built on four core values, namely Genuine, Innovative, Involved, and Exceptional.
