The AECOM Story

A small group of workers from planning and construction firms came together to start AECOM with the vision of building a world-class company that would lead the industry. By combining five different businesses, we were able to become our own business. Although we were founded in 1990, several of our predecessor companies have illustrious histories that went back longer than 120 years. Since then, we have gained the support of more than 50 businesses, and in 2007, we started trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

AECOM made intentions to sell its Management Services segment to American Securities LLC and Lindsay Goldberg for $2.405 billion public in October 2019. Institutional clients are served by Advisory Services with services and assistance. The buyout of AECOM's Infrastructure” division to private equity company CriticalPoint Capital was announced in October 2020. Shimmick Construction was part of the Civil construction company that AECOM sold to the private investment firm Oroco Capital in December 2020. The transaction was finalised on January 5, 2021. This sale of assets, according to AECOM, was made to "transition into an elevated, lower-risk Expert Services provider."

Social Contributions

Using significant transit and property investment measures, we decreased Scope 1 and 2 emissions, which relate to vehicle and office consumption, by 47 per cent from our baseline year of FY18. This entailed adjusting the size of our office buildings, enhancing workplace energy savings, and putting sustainable standards into practice for upcoming office renovations and migrations. We were able to reduce travel and further consolidate real estate thanks to our Office of the Tomorrow and Opportunity to Grow programmes, which also assisted in increasing work flexibility.

Controversies

According to the lawsuit, AECOM made fraudulent allegations on behalf of petitioners requesting PA programme monies between 2007 and 2013, including by utilising exaggerated repair costs and other false statements that unjustly enhanced applicants' funding.
