Recruitment Process

Airways International’s air traffic services training programme is for those people wanting to become air traffic controllers or flight service officers. We open our air traffic services training programme for applications around twice a year, and train our students in our training facilities in Christchurch, New Zealand.

To learn about the training programme and what it means to have a career in air traffic services, please visit our website here: https://airwaysinternational.com/training/atc-training-for-nz-students/

PLEASE NOTE: This training is available for New Zealand citizens & permanent residents, and Australian citizens only.

The selection process

To join the training programme, you will need to apply online. We will then review and select candidates for online aptitude testing. If you successfully make it through testing, you’ll then be invited to a one-day Assessment Centre in Christchurch for further assessments, group and individual activities and an interview. Those who are successful at our Assessment Centre will be offered a place on an upcoming training programme, subject to a range of background checks.

Academy training

Air traffic services students will spend their first four weeks of training doing online, self-directed learning, followed by six weeks of theoretical training in Christchurch. Air traffic control students will continue academy training for 22 weeks undertaking simulator training.
