The Bain Capital Story

After Bill Bain allowed Romney to lead a new firm that would participate in businesses and use Bain's advising methods to enhance business, Mitt Romney, T. Coleman Andrews III, and Eric Kriss formed Bain Capital in 1984. Before becoming president, Romney also held the position of supervising limited partnerships or managing partners. Later, he also started to go by the titles of managing director or CEO. He was the only stakeholder in the business as well. The company didn't initially have more than ten workers.

With over $3.1 billion in investor pledges, Bain Capital closed on its seventh investment, Bain Capital Fund VII, to start the new decade.

The Bain Capital subsidiary has conducted a variety of deal types since 2008, including majority stake, purchases with full funding, and purchases with minority shareholdings.

Bain Capital’s strategy for promoting sustainable development and limiting climate change is based on areas where it thinks the company can make a real, observable difference.

Controversies

At the height of the technological bubble, Bain was a member of a consortium that acquired a telephone directory business from the Italian government and resold it for approximately 25 times what it had originally paid.
