The BDO Story

James Dunwoody established BDO Canada in the 1920s. During this period, the firm also started operating from its first base -Winnipeg, a city in Manitoba. At the time, the firm was known as Dunwoody. During the formative years of the 21st century, this firm merged with BDO Ward Mallette. This merger cemented the company’s affiliation with BDO international. In 2007, BDO’s size and presence in Canada had grown to a workforce of 1200 staff members and 300 partners across 95 offices all over the country. 

These offices specialized in assurance, corporate recovery, taxation, accounting, and financial advisory services. In late 2009, this company agreed to a merger with Hudson LLP, another accounting firm. In 2010, Dumwoody was dropped from the company's name, and it was renamed BDO, just like other companies in other countries around the world. The global rebranding took five months. BDO was created from the initials of Binder Dijker Otte. It's one of the largest accounting networks in Canada.

Recruitment Process

The entire process, from start to finish, can take up to a month. The process usually begins with the submission of applications and is followed by phone screening and resume shortlisting. The selected candidates go through a series of interviews, and the successful ones are offered the job. 

Remuneration

A fresh graduate at BDO will earn an average pay of CA$ 45,000.
